Hold On!!!
I thought this title might grab your attention. ha ha. I thought I would share with you a little bit that I have been reading lately. My girlfriend and I have been trying to read Matthew 6-7 several times a day for two weeks just to see if we can soak up the richness and depth the small passage. It has been great to say the least! There is so much in that passage to last for a LONG time.
The greatest understanding that the Lord has recently been teaching me through it is that of a sheep. As I can best describe it, I am beginning to see my life as a sheep in my Shepherd’s flock. There are those type that like looking at the flowers and the greenery of other pastures while glancing back to “check up” on the Shepherd. I mean, really! Who am I trying to kid?! To me, the passage afore mentioned describes a true sheep as one who is wanting to be in the Shepherd’s lap. He says, “Leader, Savior, take me with you where ever you go. Whatever you tell me, I will do because I trust you. If I cannot be in your lap and I have to walk, I am going to be back here clinging on to the tail of your coat just so I know that you are not going anywhere without me because I do not trust myself alone by myself.” I am finding that to be a follower, we must be following…not just mere meandering. While God has created life to be enjoyable, enjoyability is not the point of life. God’s glory is the point of life. It is splattered like thick paint all throughout Scripture and we with our thick sculls can’t seem to get it. With that being said, I repeat my title, HOLD ON! Live your life as if the god that you place your trust in determines your destiny, for indeed he does – whoever he may be! Who will you trust in, yourself or the Creator?
Seeking life through death,
Josh
